Don’t Monitor Damage, Manage It.
Equity Software has established a new inspection scheduling methodology that is reshaping asset integrity and equipment lifecycle planning and management. Damage management locations (DMLs), available exclusively through PlantManager ASSET, will help plants effectively extend asset life, minimize unplanned shutdowns, and improve overall safety and reliability across industrial processing facilities.
Problem-Focused, Solution-Driven
DMLs are the regions on a component that are identified to have active damage or defects that require a fitness-for-service (FFS) evaluation.
PlantManager ASSET uses a proprietary workflow to automate and guide the appropriate damage data collection and seamlessly incorporate FFS calculations using PlantManager SAGE.
What is the MAWP Approach?
Using our expertise in FFS, Equity’s maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) approach aligns with API 579 to ensure integrity with continued operation. The MAWP approach determines inspection schedules from FFS assessment results, inspection data, and condition monitoring location data, and will allow you to proactively manage risk and optimize equipment performance.
Inspection Monitoring Techniques
Thickness measurements aren’t an indicator of damage types like brittle fracture, crack-like flaws, creep, or mechanical damage, making it a challenge to apply inspection results to an asset integrity program.
With the automated DML workflow in PlantManager ASSET, you can easily monitor and manage all types of existing damage.
Damage Management
Locations (DMLs)
DMLs utilize MAWP to set inspection schedules based on FFS assessments, inspection data, and condition monitoring location (CML) data.
Benefits:
- Extend asset life
- Minimize unplanned shutdowns
- Enhance overall safety
Condition Monitoring
Locations (CMLs)
CMLs are designated spots on pressure vessels and piping where non-destructive examinations check for potential damage.
Benefits:
- Ensure quality in circuitization
- Assess both localized and generalized corrosion
- Integrate informed corrosion rates into the RBI program
Thickness Measurement
Locations (TMLs)
TMLs are specific areas of equipment where thickness measurements and minimum thickness calculations are conducted.
Benefits:
- Determine long- or short-term corrosion rates

The DML Workflow
The PlantManager ASSET DML workflow will simplify your asset integrity process and turn inspection findings into practical recommendations. From logging damage to generating audit-ready analysis, this process ensures informed, compliant decisions every step of the way.
- Input inspection data in PlantManager ASSET, including local thin area and cracks
- Decide whether a repair or rerate is required, based upon cost, timeline, and damage type
- Add DML information, including evaluation date, corrosion rates, and thickness grid data
- Analyze in PlantManager SAGE and output results on damage and remaining life
- Make informed inspection planning decisions
